Despite the end looming overhead time still marches on

What do you imagine when you think of the future? Is it a brilliant one filled with technological wonders or is it painted thick with several shades of bleakness?

What exactly is dystopia? The short answer is it’s the opposite of utopia. A society in which most of the population lives unhappy, miserable lives. At times these dystopian tales are inspired by real-life events.

Sometimes they could feature an over-controlling government or the lack of one completely. Life is a struggle and the characters fight with each other or the forces of nature just to survive.

I would like to inspire you to share your dystopian tales. No matter how depressing they may be. I offer you a couple of prompts to help get the gears turning.

Write a journal entry-type story with as few or as many entries as you like about the aftermath of a nuclear disaster. Here’s an example:

After the government collapsed, a group of people decided to instate a child as its leader, believing they would make more morally pure decisions. How does that go?
