Summer is often about escaping the heat and catching a breather, and with the desire to cool down comes utility bills go up. At Bucket we are all about helping you saving your pennies anyway you can, so here are a few helpful tips to keep you cool in the summer and save you money.
2. Here Comes The Sun
Know the path of the sun as it rises and sets over your house. Keep the shades drawn to keep out direct sunlight and then bring them back up again when the sun has passed. Keep north and south facing windows ajar so you can get a cross current of breeze.
3. Love One Another
Okay not really…while staying home all day has its benefits (who wants to move around or get into a hot car?) heading to the movies or the mall where the air conditioning expenses are on someone else’s dime can be pretty attractive. This is a great time to be social.
4. Fan Favorite
Fans are a great and simple way to keep yourself cool during the summer heat. And never forget the old trick of putting a bowl of ice in front of a pedestal fan does wonders to keep you from going crazy in scorching heat.
5. For The Dogs (and Cats)
Your pets can also suffer in extreme heat. Make sure they are cooled down by dropping a few ice cubes in their water dish or putting ice packs under a towel in their bed. We promise you they will love you even more.
Stay cool and save your change! Be good to the earth.
