Gamifying The Recruitment Process

I had a particularly pleasant experience buying tees for myself at the Decathlon store. “Can I help you with anything?” the shop assistant had enquired politely of me. “No thanks”, I had responded, thinking I could find what I wanted myself. But as a I walked down the aisles for some time, he understood that I had difficulty in finding what I wanted, and he was back at my elbow, waiting silently. I finally told him what I wanted and he quickly guided me to the correct rack and also helped out with choosing my correct size.
I was impressed.
Curious about the exceptional service, I asked the young man attending at the payment counter about their recruitment process.
He then described to me the novel Decathlon process.
It begins with a walk-in interview and only those who have played some or the other field game are shortlisted. Next, the shortlisted candidates are called to a playground and divided into teams. These teams play a game and observers make a keen note of their quality of participation, attitude, team spirit etc.
The people who come through are selected and askwd to study the information placards against each product for the department they have been assigned to.
They are then given any department of their choice and let loose to pick up things on their own.
