5 Times Parents Master The Art of Reverse Psychology With Their Kids

The silly parents routine

Having kids is hard. Raising them is more challenging than doing house chores 24/7, and any parent who says differently is lying. They are needy, demanding, and anxious right after they are born. It’s not their fault, though.

I don’t personally have any (and not thinking to plan either, maybe in the coming future, the universe knows the best), but I was a kid once, so I only can imagine how much trouble my parents had gone thru to raise me.

It was difficult to raise me because I grew up in a dysfunctional family — rebel since I was 5. But my parents did dupe me with reverse psychology many times, and it did work every time. Clever!!

I was 9, and Dad told me if the electricity unit touched above 100 units in a week, we have to live without electricity for another three days. Scared the shit out of me because I was afraid of darkness.

I never forgot to switch off lights, fans, and air conditioning when I am not in the room. I used to spend more time outdoors and check on the unit daily. Smart, Dad, yeah!

The 5 tips here I am sharing are collectively shared by friends and family who have bested their kids with reverse psychology. Bang on!

One of my family friend's daughters was about 8, and her friends were having a movie date at her home and secretly playing games on mobile phones instead of watching the movie.

My friend pretends to read a book and laugh like a monster, acting her belly hurts because she laughs so hard. When her daughter and her friends sneak up, she kept the book under the pillow and acted as if nothing happen.

She got up to get the kids snacks, her daughter took the book, and once the movie date was over, dinner was served, she secretly read the book instead of playing games on her mobile. The book was the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series by Jeff Kinney.

She never played the game again. It’s been 2 years now.
